The gardens are beautiful and there is plenty of space to walk and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside while still being close enough to shops and amenities if you need them. It's well located for walks in the nearby Mijas mountains, and just a 30-minute drive from Sierra de las Nieves, where there are also many interesting walks to do. Andrew and his family are on-site and made us feel very welcome indeed, showing us around, giving us recommendations about local places to go to and see, not to mention providing us with oranges and lemons from their trees and eggs from their hens. Welcome to our sun-drenched, nature-rich private piece of paradise, nestled in a sought-after area of fertile rolling hillsides between the traditional white-washed towns of Alhaurin el Grande and Coin in beautiful Andalucia, Southern Spain. “Alhaurin”, a name given by the Moors, means “God´s garden”. The area is fertile with a pleasant winter climate, hot summers, blue skies, fresh air & sunshine. You can find an abundance of produce grown and sold locally including at vibrant, ecological, Artisan and Spanish farmer's markets. Our area of the world offers an interesting mix of traditional Spanish people/culture and a large, established, international community. There are communities of people interested in natural living/permaculture and animal welfare. The Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses (ARCH), featured on TV, is just a short 10-minute walk away.

You can enjoy excellent main-road-links, including a 25-minute, 10-mile, drive to the stunning, typically Andalucian, historic, whitewashed mountain village of Mijas Pueblo, with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean coast far below. Plus you are within a 35 minutes drive to the golden beaches and popular resorts of the Costa-del-Sol at Marbella, Fuengirola, Mijas Costa, and Malaga. Historic Malaga City with its many visitor attractions, & Malaga International Airport are also just a 35 minutes drive away. The world-renown El Caminito del Rey with its spectacular rope walkways is 45 minutes away (prior booking essential) and day trips are possible including to Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Ronda, Gibraltar, Tarifa (the southernmost point of continental Europe), & Morocco.

Our story: following intuition (including 5 years ago, Hazel discerning an impending sense of doom, repeatedly inwardly-hearing, "It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine!” and, “Marbella”) we unexpectedly released many of our belongings, left the UK and bought budget airline one-way tickets to Southern Spain. After searching widely (and much prayer!) we eventually purchased this property and moved in one week before the first lockdown was announced. The property was a bit of a fixer-upper (needed A LOT of work!). We actually celebrated when we found something functional and working and rejoiced when we said goodbye to the 1970’s salmon pink bathroom! 
We have been happily busy sorting things out on the property since (and have met some wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful people along the way).

We couldn’t think of a place we would prefer to be and each day we feel blessed and amazed to be stewarding this amazing country property and to be living in such a beautiful, inspiring place.

Sharing and Caring: We know the challenges of travelling and relocating to a new area or country. Former chartered accountant, project manager, and Church of England Vicar, Andrew particularly loves to chat about properties, gardening and listen to people's stories and experiences. He loves showing people around the estate and for those who are looking to relocate, help and guide them along their way including bringing awareness to many the pitfalls and challenges - especially related to renting or purchasing a country property in Spain.

We are aware of both extrovert and introvert personality types and are equally happy to chat or leave you alone to do your own thing. We respect your privacy. There is plenty of space for all.
