He invited us to walk his lands, enjoy the views, helped us with the barbecue so that we could enjoy our own steaks, gave us access to the pool, and even shared locally raised eggs any morning. The whole apartment including the covered terrace is available for exclusive use and has private access. The large saltwater swimming pool and 4-acre estate grounds are shared spaces with the host family and occasionally one other guest in our Studio Views Apartment. We are on-site and able to answer questions about our facilities, the local area and beyond. The owners, having taken the plunge to relocate to Spain as a family, are happy to share their experience, contacts and many insights/knowledge/lessons learned along the way. The property is in a privileged area of rolling hillside between the traditional Spanish towns of Alhaurin el Grande and Coin, both towns being just a 10-minute (5km) drive away. The Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses (ARCH), featured on TV, including "Brits in the Sun", is just a short 10-minute walk away and is open to visitors on Sunday mornings. "Alhaurin", a name given by the Moors, means "God´s garden", the area being fertile and with a pleasant winter climate. There are abundant fresh fruit & vegetables grown and sold locally and a mix of traditional Spanish people/culture and a large, established, international community. We are ideally located just a 30-minute pleasant drive from the historic centre and harbour of Malaga city, and the Costa del Sol at Marbella & Fuengirola. We are a 45-minute drive (46km) from the world-renown El Caminito del Rey with its spectacular rope walkways. We are also just 30 minutes from Malaga airport, being accessible by good tarmac roads with just the final 100 metres here being a steep concrete lane. A car is recommended for getting around, including for food shopping. There is a regular and economical bus service from Coin and Alhaurin el Grande to Malaga. We can also offer our Spanish country home apartment as a "medium-long stay" rental with a difference. In order to fully appreciate its ethos and ambiance, the owners outline their lifestyle below….
